Veneers offer a fast and effective way to fix a variety of dental problems, and it is easy to see why this cosmetic treatment is so popular. Here at Lux Dental, we want to help by improving your smile. Many of our patients have benefitted from dental veneers and other cosmetic treatments that we offer.

What are Porcelain Veneers?

Porcelain veneers, also known as dental veneers or porcelain laminates, are thin shells designed to cover the visible surface of your teeth. Tooth-colored materials are used to make your smile look natural. The shells are custom created to match your mouth and then they are bonded onto your teeth.

These veneers are made of either resin composite or porcelain, depending on the dentist that you visit. Here at Lux Dental, we are focused on the quality of the services that we provide, which is why we prefer to use porcelain shells. Porcelain is beneficial because it is a closer match to the reflecting properties that happen to natural teeth. Additionally, porcelain is more resistant to stains compared to resin.

Dental Problems Fixed by Veneers

Why should you consider dental veneers? There are many problems that can be immediately fixed when the veneers are in place. Here are a few common reasons why patients choose this cosmetic treatment:

  • Smooth over chipped or broken teethdental-veneers
  • Improve the color of the teeth – helpful when the discoloration is due to a root canal, stains from medications, or large fillings that discolored the tooth
  • Align the teeth for a straighter smile
  • Reshape teeth that naturally have an irregular curve
  • Even out the appearance of the smile
  • Close the gaps between teeth

If you want to experience any of these benefits, then you should call us at Lux Dental to schedule a consultation.

What to Expect during Your Appointment

Veneers require three appointments in our office. First, we will have a consultation to examine your teeth and determine if you are a good candidate for veneers. Once it has been established that you are a good candidate, then we can move forward with the treatment.

It is necessary to schedule a time to prepare the teeth for the veneers. During this appointment, about 1/2 millimeter of the surface of the teeth will be removed. The veneers will be approximately the same thickness to replace the surface that was removed. Once the teeth have been trimmed, then we will take an impression of your teeth so that the dental laboratory can create the veneers for your mouth. Finally, the third appointment is the time when the veneers will be bonded onto your teeth.
